Study Abroad: France
Recently, Sophie embarked on a life changing exchange to France. She attended Sciences Po, Lille for a semester, met students from around the globe who had the same passions and interests in global issues as she has. She also gained a different point of view from attending the host university.
She is currently in her last year at UWA, studying history, politics and international relations. Outside of university, she works as a swimming coach for the swimming club, UWA West Coast. Throughout her life, she had moved countries as a result of her mother’s work. They were in Fiji, Australia and Scotland. The experiences that she had gained from living in these countries have heavily shaped my outlook of the work. Her experiences are one of the main reasons as to why she chose to pursue a double major in history and politics. |

Enabling People to Do More
![]() How can we encourage more employers to harness the power of diversity and employ more people with disabilities? More importantly, how can you develop a mindset where you approach challenges as disguised opportunities? The guest presenter today is an entrepreneur and activist who uses stories from his lived experiences to illustrate important life skills about resilience, opportunity and determination. As a young boy growing up with spastic paraplegia; firstly, in the Hills area of Perth, and then later in the wheatbelt of Western Australia, he has gone on to TAFE and then Murdoch University where he graduated with an Arts Degree.
