Enabling People to Do More
Jul 11, 2023 6:15 PM
How can we encourage more employers to harness the power of diversity and employ more people with disabilities? More importantly, how can you develop a mindset where you approach challenges as disguised opportunities? The guest presenter today is an entrepreneur and activist who uses stories from his lived experiences to illustrate important life skills about resilience, opportunity and determination. As a young boy growing up with spastic paraplegia; firstly, in the Hills area of Perth, and then later in the wheatbelt of Western Australia, he has gone on to TAFE and then Murdoch University where he graduated with an Arts Degree. Ping-Hsuan Chen (likes to be called Sharon) will be presenting her first talk to us about her home in Tainan City, Taiwan her family and the life she lives in her country. She is an Ambassodor for her country and we all look forward to hearing from her. Sharon has been working with Interacters from Perth Modern School who are a very vibrant and hands on group. They will also have representatives to tell us what they have been doing. There is a wonderful synergy in bringing these two Rotary groups together. In addition to the project, there is chatter. Each group benefits..

Rotary Homeless Hub
Oct 31, 2023 6:15 PM
The Rotary Homeless Hub was set up to co-ordinate the various projects that different Clubs in district 9455, and now Rotary WA, are doing to support people experiencing homelessness. The function is to enable and support Club projects, co-ordinate Rotary’s efforts and offer strategic direction. David and Ken will talk about the Homeless Hub and the projects they are involved with. David Motta joined the Rotary Club of Osborne Park in 2010, is the current Secretary and has been President twice. Working in the city he witnessed the rapid growth in the number of homeless people and wanted to do something about it, so joined the Homeless Hub group in 2019. Dr Ken Mullin, of the Heirisson Club, chairs the Homeless Hub and was instrumental in establishing it. Website https://rotarydistrict9455.org/sitepage/homeless-hub |
