GROW Mental Health and the Get Growing Program for young people

A presentation on the recently launched in WA, 'GET GROWING' Mental Wellness program for 11-17 year olds;
Kim is a Mental Health Support Worker for GROW Australia. She has been with GROW for 2 years and in that time have been integral in facilitating and developing the GET GROWING program for schools. She first came to GROW in 2011 as a member seeking support. She has lived with bi-polar for most of her adult life. Her learning through GROW has driven her to help others, by sharing her own lived experience and growth, as well as the hope that GROW offers through the program and the community of people within it. The youth program is very important to her as early intervention is the key to promoting good mental health and wellness in our society. |

Rotary youth exchange feedback

Jasmine will tell us about her year away as a Rotary Youth Exchange student, and recount the various experiences she had in Sweden and what she has learnt from the year. She is the previous treasurer of the Subiaco Interact club which is based at Perth Modern School. She graduated from P.M.S in 2019 and then went on to partake in the Rotary Youth Exchange program for the duration of 2020, where she lived in Gothenburg Sweden. She is currently in her first year at the University of Western Australia studying the Integrated Medical Sciences and Clinical Practices double major via the Bachelor of Philosophy Honours program, with an assured entry into the post-graduate MD course.

Cyber Saturdays gives WA’s youth acccess to education and industry pathways that will lead to employment in the growing cyber security and ICT industries. The development of technology skills is important our region and at the same time, helps our kids to learn how to be safe online. The Innovation Institute of WA's free cybersecurity course is for 12-18-year-olds. Cyber Saturdays was launched last year in collaboration with the City of Subiaco and WA Aus Cyber Innovation Hub. The free nine-week 'Cyber Saturdays' program in focusses on cybersecurity both as a field of study/work and connected yout with the cyber industry. Due to the success of the pilot program this year, Cyber Saturdays is increasing their 2021 programs to reach more young West Australians in the Perth metro area and the WA regional areas including Peel and Albany. Paul Litwin is a Life Long Learner, Educator, Futurist, Innovator and Entrepreneur, with more than 30 years experience in education/industry sectors. He is experienced in all aspects of business formation, operation, marketing, and management. Paul has been a visionary youth entrepreneurship developer with a deep education in all aspects of business operations. He identifies and leverages assets in new and existing learners, with effective communication. He motivates his participants to reach the organisational goals. Paul is a relentless optimist who believes there is no failure, only 'flearning'. His vision shows through his passion for creating future career opportunities for Young West Australians. Currently, he is the Director of The Innovation Institute, an organisation connecting Education, Industry, Government, and Community in a Quad Helix Model. Steven leads the operation, sales and marketing at DiGii Social. Steven spent 25 years in the Government education system including 10 years as a Principal in a range of schools in Perth, regional WA, the NT and England as well as time in two regional Offices as an educational consultant. In 2008 he left education to take up a role as General Manager of a private investment company and got involved with The Fathering Project as a volunteer presenter. He joined The Fathering Project full time as the WA Schools Manager late in 2018. |
