DESCRIPTION:Perth has the lowest canopy cover of any Australian capital cit
 y\, sitting at just 16% in 2020. We are also one of the only states that d
 oes not regulate the removal of significant trees. Mass tree deaths in the
  23/24 summer and the invasive Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer have left our u
 rban canopy in a state of crisis. WA Tree Canopy Advocates (WATCA) is advo
 cating for action from both state and local governments to address this cr
 isis. Nick is cofounder and current Chair of WA Tree Canopy Advocates. Nic
 k has been a Director of LandCare group Friends of Lake Claremont since 20
 10 and was recognised in 2021 for his work in conservation by the Conserva
